Role Summary
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented DTP Designer with expertise in Adobe InDesign to design and format high-quality academic books and learning materials. The role involves converting faculty-provided content into professionally designed textbooks, worksheets, question banks, and other educational resources for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and format textbooks, workbooks, modules, question banks, and study materials using Adobe InDesign.
- Convert faculty-provided content from Word documents, PDFs, handwritten notes, or presentations into professionally designed layouts.
- Format mathematical equations, chemical reactions, biological diagrams, tables, graphs, and illustrations accurately.
- Maintain consistency in page layouts, typography, styles, colors, headers, footers, and branding.
- Prepare print-ready and digital-ready files following publishing standards.
- Coordinate with faculty members to implement content revisions and corrections.
- Ensure all publications are free from formatting, alignment, numbering, and pagination errors.
- Organize and maintain source files, fonts, linked images, and design templates.
- Collaborate with graphic designers and illustrators for diagrams, icons, and artwork when required.
- Meet project timelines while maintaining high quality standards.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Adobe InDesign (mandatory).
- Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
- Strong understanding of typography, page layout, master pages, paragraph styles, character styles, and tables.
- Experience in designing print-ready publications.
- Ability to format scientific and mathematical content accurately.
- Familiarity with PDF generation, preflight checks, packaging, and print specifications.
- Good organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Graphic Design, DTP, Visual Communication, Multimedia, or a related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in DTP or publication design.
- Experience in educational publishing or textbook design is preferred.
- Familiarity with JEE, NEET, CBSE, ICSE, or State Board educational content is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of MathType, LaTeX, or equation-editing tools is desirable.
