The Vice Principal supports the Principal in the overall administration, academic leadership, and smooth functioning of the school. The role involves managing daily operations, supervising staff, ensuring academic excellence, and maintaining discipline aligned with school policies and board guidelines (State).
Key Responsibilities
1. Academic Leadership
Assist in planning and implementing curriculum as per board norms (CBSE/ICSE).
Monitor lesson planning, classroom delivery, and assessment practices.
Ensure effective implementation of NEP 2020 guidelines.
Conduct classroom observations and provide feedback to teachers.
Track student performance and initiate improvement strategies.
2. School Operations Management
Oversee day-to-day school operations in the absence of the Principal.
Ensure smooth functioning of classes, timetables, and school activities.
Coordinate exams, evaluations, and result processing.
Supervise administrative processes and school records.
3. Staff Supervision & Development
Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of teaching and non-teaching staff.
Conduct performance evaluations and mentoring sessions.
Promote professional development programs and workshops.
4. Student Discipline & Welfare
Maintain discipline and ensure adherence to school rules.
Address student behavioral issues and counsel when required.
Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive school environment.
5. Parent & Community Engagement
Interact with parents regarding academic progress and concerns.
Conduct PTMs (Parent-Teacher Meetings).
Handle escalations and ensure parent satisfaction.
6. Compliance & Documentation
Ensure adherence to board regulations and school policies.
Maintain records for inspections (CBSE affiliation, audits, etc.).
Assist in documentation for accreditation and audits.
7. Strategic Support
Assist the Principal in implementing school vision and growth plans.
Contribute to school branding, admissions, and outreach initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Education or relevant subject (B.Ed. mandatory).
Minimum 5–10 years of teaching experience.
2–5 years in a leadership role (Coordinator/HOD/Vice Principal preferred).
