Role Purpose
To lead the design, innovation, and continuous improvement of JeevaRaksha’s training programmes, curricula, and knowledge systems, ensuring they are evidence-based, scalable, and aligned with national priorities. The role will anchor the organisation’s efforts in simulation-based learning, research, and data-driven impact, directly contributing to improved emergency care outcomes. This is a critical leadership role that ensures JeevaRaksha’s interventions are scientifically robust, outcome-driven, and scalable. By advancing research and innovation in training, the Deputy Program Director and i/c R&D will directly contribute to improving the quality of emergency response and saving lives at scale.
Key Responsibilities
R&D Strategy & Leadership: Define and drive JeevaRaksha’s R&D agenda, identifying emerging needs in emergency care, trauma, and disaster preparedness, and translating them into scalable programme innovations.
Research & Evidence Generation:
o Design and lead studies evaluating JeevaRaksha course training effectiveness, skill retention, and impact on patient outcomes.
o Generate evidence to support programme scale and policy advocacy.
o Develop and implement robust study designs (e.g., pre-post assessments, longitudinal studies, quasi-experimental designs, implementation research) tailored to real-world training.
o Support in development of technical proposal for newer projects.
o Conduct comprehensive literature reviews and synthesize findings to inform research design and methodologies and suggest value additions in the JeevaRaksha programs.
Research Dissemination, Knowledge & Thought Leadership: Drive regular development of:
o Peer-reviewed publications
o White papers and technical reports showcasing programme design, implementation models, and impact
o Case studies and impact stories highlighting real-world outcomes and success narratives
o Articles, blogs, and knowledge pieces for broader stakeholder engagement
o Prepare and present research findings, including written reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
o Build a strong knowledge repository.
Support JeevaRaksha Program delivery, Monitoring, Evaluation & Data Analytics:
o Establish robust systems for data collection, analysis, and outcome measurement. Support in development of M&E frameworks and in conducting M&E reviews.
o Use insights to continuously guide improvement in programme quality and demonstrate impact.
Government & Academic Collaboration: Engage with government bodies, academic institutions, and clinical experts to align programmes with national standards and contribute to guidelines and policy frameworks.
Team Leadership: Build and lead a multidisciplinary R&D team, fostering a culture of innovation, rigour, and continuous learning.
Candidate Profile
Graduate degree in Medical/Nursing/Dentistry/ any other Health Care with Masters degree (PhD preferred) in Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Public Health, Health Economics, Medical Education Research, or related disciplines with strong grounding in research methodologies.
8-10 years of experience in applied research, impact evaluation, or evidence generation, preferably within healthcare, public health, or training/education systems.
Demonstrated expertise in:
o Study design and research methodologies (experimental, quasi-experimental, implementation research)
o Statistical analysis and data interpretation
o Evaluation of training effectiveness and behavioural/clinical outcomes
Proven track record of peer-reviewed publications, white papers, and technical reports.
Proficiency in using statistical software and relevant tools.
Experience in health systems research, programme evaluation, and cost-effectiveness/health economics analysis is highly desirable.
Familiarity with simulation-based training, medical education, or emergency care systems will be an added advantage.
Experience working with government bodies, academic institutions, or large-scale programmes is preferred.
