Key Responsibilities
1. Final Inspection of Components & Valves
- Perform final dimensional and visual inspection of:
- Valve body, bonnet, disc, stem, trim parts
- Verify compliance with:
- Drawings (GAD / manufacturing drawings)
- Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Customer specifications
2. Assembly & Functional Verification
- Inspect fully assembled valves for:
- Alignment and fitment
- Torque requirements
- Smooth operation (open/close)
- Ensure correct assembly of internal components
3. Dimensional & Measurement Checks
- Use precision instruments:
- Vernier caliper, micrometer
- Bore gauge, height gauge
- Thread gauges, plug gauges
- Check:
- Critical dimensions
- Tolerances
- Surface finish
4. Pressure & Leak Testing
- Conduct and verify:
- Hydrostatic pressure test
- Pneumatic test
- Seat leakage test
- Ensure compliance with standards like:
- ISO
5. Documentation & Certification
- Prepare and verify:
- Final inspection reports
- Test certificates (TC)
- Material traceability records
- Ensure all documents are ready for:
- Customer inspection
- Third Party Inspection (TPI)
6. Non-Conformance Handling
- Identify defects and deviations
- Raise:
- NCR (Non-Conformance Report)
- Coordinate with production for rework or rejection
- Verify corrective actions
7. Customer & TPI Coordination
- Support inspections by:
- Customers
- Third-party agencies (e.g., inspection bodies)
- Demonstrate tests and provide documentation
Required Skills
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of:
- Valve types (gate, globe, ball, butterfly)
- Engineering drawings & GD&T
- Familiarity with:
- ISO quality systems
- Hands-on experience with inspection tools
Soft Skills
- Attention to detail
- Strong reporting & documentation skills
- Communication with cross-functional teams
- Problem-solving ability
Qualifications
- Diploma / ITI / BE in Mechanical Engineering
- 2–6 years experience in:
- Valve manufacturing / machine shop QC
- Certification in NDT (optional but preferred)
Work Environment
- Machine shop / assembly / testing area
- Exposure to pressure testing setups
- Shift-based work possible
