An Endoscopy Technician assists doctors and nursing staff during endoscopic procedures by preparing equipment, maintaining sterile instruments, monitoring patient readiness, and ensuring smooth operation of the endoscopy unit.
- Prepare endoscopy room and equipment before procedures
- Clean, disinfect, and sterilize endoscopes and accessories as per infection control protocols
- Assist physicians during procedures such as upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP, etc.
- Check functionality of monitors, scopes, light sources, and suction systems
- Prepare and position patients for procedures
- Monitor and restock consumables and supplies
- Maintain procedure records and equipment logs
- Follow biomedical waste management and hospital safety guidelines
- Support patient transport and post-procedure room turnover
- Report equipment malfunction or maintenance needs promptly
- Diploma / Certificate in Endoscopy Technology, OT Technology, or related healthcare field
- Basic knowledge of endoscopic instruments and sterilization procedures
- Understanding of infection control and patient safety standards
- Attention to detail
- Knowledge of medical equipment handling
- Good communication and teamwork
- Ability to work in fast-paced clinical environments
- Basic computer documentation skills
- Minimum 4 -5 years of experience in endoscopy/GI unit preferred
