About the Role:
We are a plastic recycling and waste management company based in Tamil Nadu looking for an experienced Purchase Executive to join our Chennai operations. This is a dual-responsibility role covering both virgin resin / raw plastic procurement from domestic suppliers and plastic scrap sourcing from domestic dealers as well as overseas import (UAE, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia). You will manage the full procurement cycle — supplier identification, price negotiation, order placement, quality check coordination, and delivery follow-up.
Procurement Scope:
- Virgin Resin / Raw Plastic: PP, HDPE, LDPE, ABS, PET, PC, Nylon — from domestic manufacturers, distributors, and traders
- Plastic Scrap / Waste: Post-industrial and post-consumer plastic scrap — from local dealers, recyclers, and overseas exporters
- Domestic Sourcing: Supplier development across Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and other plastics hubs
- Import Sourcing: Coordinating with overseas suppliers in UAE, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia for scrap imports
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, evaluate, and develop suppliers for virgin plastic resin (PP, HDPE, LDPE, ABS, PET, Nylon, PC)
- Source plastic scrap from domestic dealers, recyclers, and waste generators
- Coordinate with overseas suppliers and freight forwarders for import of plastic scrap
- Negotiate purchase price based on market rates, material grade, and quantity
- Track commodity price movements — domestic resin prices, global plastic scrap market
- Raise and process purchase orders, coordinate with accounts for payment
- Coordinate incoming material inspection and quality verification with store/QC team
- Manage import documentation — commercial invoice, Bill of Lading, Certificate of Origin, customs clearance coordination
- Maintain vendor master, purchase records, and MIS reports in Excel / ERP
- Build and maintain long-term supplier relationships for consistent supply at competitive pricing
- Monitor stock levels and plan purchases to avoid shortage or excess inventory
Requirements:
- 2–5 years of experience in purchase/procurement in a plastic manufacturing, trading, or recycling company
- Working knowledge of plastic grades — PP, HDPE, LDPE, ABS, PET, PC, Nylon and their market pricing
- Experience in both domestic supplier management and import procurement preferred
- Familiarity with import documentation — Bill of Lading, COO, customs clearance process
- Strong negotiation skills and vendor management ability
- Proficiency in MS Excel; experience with ERP/Tally a plus
- Good communication in Tamil and English (written and spoken)
- Degree or diploma in any discipline — B.E. Plastics, B.Com, or MBA Supply Chain preferred
Preferred Background:
- Worked in plastic raw material trading companies, plastic processors, or recycling firms
- Experience dealing with suppliers from Gujarat (Surat, Rajkot) or Maharashtra — major resin hubs
- Prior exposure to import procurement for plastic scrap or raw material
- Knowledge of GST, e-way bills, and scrap purchase compliance
- Awareness of CPCB/DGFT norms for plastic scrap import — added advantage
Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
