Job Summary: A Planning Engineer in a construction company is responsible for planning, scheduling, monitoring, and reporting construction project timelines, resources, and progress. The role ensures that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Track project progress against plans, milestones, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Update and maintain project dashboards, Gantt charts, and other tracking tools.
Collect, analyse, and report on project data (e.g., time, cost, deliverables).
Monitor project budget and expenditures; flag overruns.
Ensure scope changes follow change control procedures.
Coordinate quality control and compliance checks.
Maintain updated project schedules and resource allocation data.
Follow up with teams to ensure timely completion of tasks.
Review of Monthly Tracked Schedule aligned with Project timelines (Includes GFC Quantities)
Review Monthly Manpower Mobilization Reports, Weekly Plan and Daily Plan aligned with overall Project timelines.
Communications of all Stakeholders.
To monitor cash flow of respective Projects
To submit Schedule of subcontract delivery with procurement list
To monitor tender and GFC variation in case of Lumpsum/EPC projects
Review and validate the project closure checklist, database and related documents
- Risk and Issue Coordination -
Assist in identifying project risks and maintaining the risk register.
Track issues and coordinate timely resolution with relevant teams.
Escalate critical risks and issues to project leadership.
Baseline schedule along with site planning Engineer/manager
To ensure site team is aligned with Documentation requirement for the Project
To ensure all documents as per SOP is maintained at Site
To ensure Key Project staff is aware of contract documents so Project is executed as per the same.
To make sure any extra Item/disputed items are being documented and closed as per Contract .
To ensure all Key emails, SIs, RFIs or any other instructions by PMC or client are reverted/adhered to.
To ensure all required Project closure documents are adhered
Timely submission of Procurement requisitions (for SITC work) to Procurement department
To ensure any variation of Project Qtys or cost is being documented and agreed upon
Mobilization plan and status tracking
Qualifications & Skills:
Education: Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Project Management, or related field.
Experience:
Minimum 5-7 years of experience in project planning, monitoring, or control roles within construction or infrastructure sectors.
Proficiency in project management software (Primavera P6, MS Project), MS Excel (Advanced), Power BI or similar tools.
