Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and hands-on Sourcing & Supplier Development Engineer to join our Electric Mobility team. This role requires strong engineering aptitude, supplier development capability, and product sourcing expertise. The selected candidate will work closely with the Design & Development, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to identify, develop, and industrialize components and assemblies required for current and future electric vehicle platforms.
The role involves extensive interaction with suppliers, component manufacturers, fabricators, machining vendors, electrical and electronics suppliers, and system integrators across India.
The ideal candidate should be comfortable travelling frequently, evaluating manufacturing capabilities, developing suppliers from prototype to production stage, and supporting the complete product development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, evaluate, and develop suppliers for vehicle systems, fabricated parts, machined components, electrical systems, plastics, sheet metal components, assemblies, and purchased parts.
- Work closely with Engineering and Product Development teams during concept, prototype, validation, and production stages to source suitable components and technologies.
- Explore the market for innovative products, technologies, suppliers, and manufacturing partners relevant to electric mobility applications.
- Travel to supplier locations for technical discussions, capability assessments, process audits, and supplier development activities.
- Participate in vehicle and subsystem development projects by identifying commercially viable and technically suitable solutions.
- Collaborate with design engineers to optimize component design for manufacturability, cost, quality, and supply chain scalability.
- Lead supplier onboarding, technical evaluation, sample development, and qualification activities.
- Support prototype builds by ensuring timely availability of development parts and coordinating design changes with suppliers.
- Drive localization initiatives and identify alternate sources for critical components and assemblies.
- Conduct technical and commercial negotiations with suppliers while maintaining long-term strategic relationships.
- Coordinate with Quality and Manufacturing teams to resolve supplier-related technical issues during development and production.
- Support cost reduction and value engineering initiatives through alternate materials, manufacturing processes, and supplier innovations.
- Establish and maintain a robust supplier ecosystem capable of supporting low-volume prototypes through high-volume production.
- Maintain supplier databases, sourcing records, development status reports, cost sheets, and project documentation.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies, EV components, manufacturing processes, and supplier capabilities within the automotive and electric mobility sectors.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
