Job Purpose:
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Simulation Engineer to support the complete vehicle and subsystem development lifecycle, including simulation, prototype development, testing, validation, failure analysis, and design optimization.
The candidate will play a critical role in reducing development risks at an early stage by utilizing simulation tools, structured prototype planning, testing methodologies, and validation processes. The role requires close collaboration with Design, R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Supplier Development, and external testing agencies to ensure that vehicle systems meet performance, durability, reliability, safety, manufacturing, and regulatory requirements.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Simulation & Engineering Analysis:
- Perform engineering simulations and analysis to support vehicle and subsystem development.
- Support early-stage design validation and risk identification through simulation and virtual engineering methodologies.
- Conduct analysis related to vehicle dynamics, structural performance, durability, thermal performance, and other relevant vehicle systems.
- Interpret simulation results and provide technical recommendations for design improvements.
- Work closely with the Design and Engineering teams to optimize product performance before prototype development.
- Support design verification activities and final design freeze through simulation and validation data.
Vehicle Testing & Performance Validation:
- Plan and execute functional, performance, durability, reliability, and regulatory testing.
- Develop detailed test plans, test procedures, validation methodologies, and acceptance criteria.
- Conduct vehicle and subsystem testing in laboratory, track, and real-road environments.
- Coordinate and oversee track testing, road testing, environmental testing, and compliance testing.
- Ensure proper use of testing instruments, data acquisition systems, sensors, and measurement equipment.
- Analyse test data and prepare technical reports with observations and recommendations.
- Compare actual test results with design specifications and performance targets.
Failure Analysis & Problem Solving:
- Perform detailed failure analysis during prototype and validation stages.
- Identify root causes of product failures, performance issues, and system-level problems.
- Conduct teardown, debugging, and technical investigation of failed components and systems.
- Implement structured root cause analysis methodologies.
- Recommend corrective and preventive actions in coordination with Design, Quality, Manufacturing, and Supplier teams.
- Validate corrective actions through re-testing and verification.
Vehicle & Subsystem Development:
- Support development and validation of vehicle systems including:
o Vehicle Dynamics, o Chassis Systems, o Powertrain Systems, o EV Systems, o Battery Systems, o Motor and Controller Integration, o Suspension and Braking Systems, o Electrical and Electronic Systems
- Participate in design reviews and engineering discussions throughout the product development cycle.
- Support design optimization based on simulation, testing, and validation findings.
- Ensure technical issues are identified and resolved before production release.
Manufacturing & Design Feasibility:
- Ensure Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) compliance.
- Evaluate manufacturing feasibility of vehicle components and assemblies.
- Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering teams to identify potential production challenges.
- Support smooth transition from prototype development to production.
- Participate in design and process reviews before tooling release and production launch.
Homologation & Regulatory Compliance:
- Support vehicle homologation and certification activities.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external testing agencies for regulatory testing.
- Ensure vehicle systems comply with applicable automotive and EV regulations.
- Support preparation of technical documentation required for certification and regulatory approvals.
- Participate in compliance testing and resolution of regulatory observations.
Documentation & Reporting:
o Simulation Test, o Validation Procedures, o Simulation Reports, o Test Reports, o Failure Analysis Reports, o Root Cause Analysis Reports, o Technical Specifications, o Development Status Reports
- Present engineering findings and development updates to management and cross-functional teams.
- Maintain proper documentation of simulation, prototype, testing, and validation activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.
- Additional specialization in Automotive Engineering or Vehicle Development will be an added advantage.
Required Experience:
- 4–10 years of relevant experience in Automotive, Electric Vehicle, or Motorcycle development.
For senior-level candidates:
- 8–15 years of experience in complete vehicle development, validation, prototype engineering, and automotive testing.
