Engineer – Gas Turbine Base Frame, Accessories Base and Foundation interface
Job Description:
The Design Engineer will lead engineering requisition and new product introduction activities for gas turbine Base Frame, Accessories Base and Foundation interface. The role focuses on executing high-quality designs, delivering drawings, specifications, and BOMs, collaborating with suppliers and cross-functional teams, ensuring compliance with codes and standards, and resolving field, safety, quality, delivery, and cost challenges.
Roles and Responsibilities:

Design & Development of GE Heavy duty Gas Turbine (GT) base frames & structures. Maintenance tools such as rotor Lifting beam, rotor support, rotor guide etc.

Working on requisition projects deliveries, suppliers and sites support/issues (RFP, RFQ, SDR, etc.) and new development support.

Design activity (preparing design drawing inputs for drafting team) and structures calculation.

Weight & C.G. drawings, transportation drawings and Arrangement drawings creation.

Design & Development of GE Heavy duty Gas Turbine (GT) base frames & structures. Maintenance tools such as rotor Lifting beam, rotor support, rotor guide etc.

Coordinate and manage the execution of design tasks (Drawing / Specification / Bill Of Materials) to deliver on time with expected quality level.

Ensure the design is per applicable rules, regulations codes and standards, design practice/work instruction, contractual requirement.

Ensure equipment maintainability and accessibility, 3D model review.

Carry out activities related to the purchase of equipment designed by a third party / supplier.

Use technical knowledge for analysis to support/provide recommendations.

Lead design tasks, ensuring timely drawings, specifications, BOMs, quality compliance

Develop detailed system designs, calculations, analyses meeting safety, regulatory requirements

Drive requisition and NPI activities for starting, turning, load gear systems

Maintain standard designs, GBOMs, databases improving competitiveness, consistency, operational rigor

Identify optimization opportunities reducing cost, enhancing performance, supporting product strategy

Collaborate with leaders, suppliers ensuring design integrity, manufacturability, maintainability, accessibility, etc.

Support procurement for third-party equipment, conducting document reviews, technical evaluations

Provide technical guidance for estimates, resolving design, manufacturing, supplier deviations

Engage customers, site teams resolving field issues, supporting commissioning, claim discussions

Communicate progress, risks, recommendations across stakeholders with clarity, confidence

Apply engineering judgment, proactive problem-solving ensuring safety, quality, delivery, cost

Strong GD&T skills, drawing reading and ASME Y14.5.

Understanding of AWS welding codes.
Work Experience
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent discipline

3 to 8 years of relevant engineering/design experience

Focus, Design know-how or experience on GT Base Frame, Accessories Base and Foundation interface would be an advantage.

Experience with engineering/design platforms (e.g., PLM, 3D modelling tools)
Desired Characteristics

Solid system-level engineering approach and analytical problem-solving skills

Knowledge of tools and methods (e.g. GTCC-PLM, ClearOrbit (SDR, RFI, NCR) is added advantage.
