· Raw Material Inspection (IQC): Verify mill test certificates (MTC), check plate/section dimensions, grade compliance, surface defects, and heat number traceabilities.
· Fit-Up & Cutting Inspection: Inspect plate layout, bevel angles, root gap, tack welding, and assembly dimensions against approved fabrication drawings.
· Welding & Process In-Process Quality: Monitor welding parameters against approved WPS (Welding Procedure Specification) and PQR (Procedure Qualification Record). Ensure welder qualifications (WPQ) are valid for specific joints.
· Final Visual & Dimensional Inspection: Measure overall length, diagonal tolerances, distortion, hole pitch, straightness, and weld profile using calibrated gauges.
Conduct or supervise Non-Destructive Testing (NDT):
- VT (Visual Testing) & DPT (Dye Penetrant Testing) for surface cracks.
- MPT (Magnetic Particle Testing) for sub-surface defects.
- UT (Ultrasonic Testing) / RT (Radiographic Testing) coordination for full-penetration butt joints.
· · Prepare and maintain Quality Assurance Plans (QAP) and Inspection & Test Plans (ITP).
· · Compile comprehensive Manufacturing Data Reports (MDR) or Dossiers for client handover.
· · Coordinate Third-Party Inspection (TPI) agencies (e.g., TUV, BV, DNV, Lloyd's) for hold-point clearances.
· Qualifications
· B.E. / B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical, Production, or Metallurgy Engineering.
· Key Certifications
· Standards & Codes AWS D1.1 (Structural Welding), ASME Section VIII / IX (Pressure Vessels & Welding), ISO 3834, EN 1090, ISO 9001.Tools & Gauge HandlingVernier calipers, weld gauges (Hi-Lo, fillet gauge), DFT meters, surface roughness comparators.
