Professor – Medical Laboratory Science (MLS)

1. Job Purpose
To provide high-quality teaching, academic leadership, research guidance, and departmental development in the field of Medical Laboratory Science. The Professor will contribute to curriculum development, student mentoring, research, laboratory practices, and overall academic excellence of the department.
2. Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Academic Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and effective lectures, practicals, tutorials, and demonstrations.
- Teach subjects related to Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Biochemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Pathology, Immunology, Molecular Diagnostics, etc.
- Prepare lesson plans, course materials, question papers, assignments, and practical assessments.
- Ensure timely completion of syllabus as per the academic calendar.
- Integrate case studies, practical examples, diagnostic techniques, and current developments into teaching.
- Maintain accurate academic and student records on the ERP/LMS.
Laboratory & Practical Training
- Supervise laboratory practicals and ensure adherence to laboratory protocols.
- Guide students in specimen collection, processing, testing, interpretation, and reporting.
- Ensure appropriate use, maintenance, and safety of laboratory equipment.
- Promote quality control, biosafety, infection control, and laboratory ethics.
Research & Publications
- Develop and lead research projects in relevant areas of Medical Laboratory Science.
- Publish research papers in peer-reviewed and reputed journals.
- Guide students in research projects, dissertations, seminars, and conferences.
- Encourage participation in research conferences, workshops, FDPs, and professional activities.
- Explore opportunities for research collaborations, consultancy, grants, and funded projects.
Student Development & Mentoring
- Mentor and counsel students regarding academic and career development.
- Monitor student performance and provide appropriate academic support.
- Support students in internships, industrial/clinical training, projects, and placements.
- Encourage participation in academic competitions, conferences, and extracurricular activities.
Academic Administration
- Participate in departmental meetings, academic planning, examination duties, and institutional committees.
- Contribute to curriculum review and development.
- Coordinate academic activities and support accreditation/quality-assurance requirements.
- Maintain documentation required for NAAC, statutory bodies, university/affiliation requirements, and institutional audits.
- Support the HOD/Dean in achieving departmental academic and institutional objectives.
3. Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Medical Laboratory Science / Medical Laboratory Technology / Life Sciences / relevant allied health discipline from a recognized university.
- Master's degree in Medical Laboratory Science / Medical Laboratory Technology / relevant discipline.
- Minimum academic qualifications and experience should be as per the applicable university/statutory/regulatory norms.
- Strong academic and research profile with publications in reputed journals.
4. Experience
- Significant teaching and academic experience in Medical Laboratory Science / Medical Laboratory Technology or a closely related discipline.
- Experience in handling undergraduate/postgraduate teaching and practical laboratory training.
- Experience in research supervision, publications, curriculum development, and academic administration will be preferred.
- Experience in accreditation, quality assurance, and institutional academic processes will be an added advantage.

7. Preferred Profile
