We are seeking a certified, compassionate, detail-oriented, and skilled Phlebotomist to join our growing healthcare team. In this role, you will be the "face of the laboratory," responsible for drawing blood samples from patients, preparing specimens for testing, and ensuring a safe, sterile environment. Your primary focus will be to deliver excellent patient care, alleviate patient anxieties, and ensure the utmost accuracy in sample labeling and handling.
Core Responsibilities
Blood Collection: Perform precise venipuncture and capillary punctures on diverse patient populations, including pediatric and geriatric patients.
Patient Preparation: Verify patient identity using secondary identifiers, explain collection procedures clearly, and soothe anxious or nervous patients.
Specimen Processing: Label all collected samples immediately and accurately with patient info, date, and time, ensuring compliance with requisition orders.
Data Management: Accurately enter patient demographics, insurance details, and specific test orders into the [Electronic Health Record (EHR) / Laboratory Information System (LIS)].
Safety & Sanitation: Adhere strictly to infection control policies, universal precautions, OSHA standards, and proper hazardous waste disposal.
Logistics: Package, store, and transport blood and other fluid specimens to the main testing laboratory according to temperature and stabilization protocols.
Inventory Control: Clean, calibrate, and maintain phlebotomy trays and equipment while monitoring stock levels to request inventory replacements.
