Position: CAD Faculty – Fashion Design

Job Summary
JD Institute of Fashion Technology is looking for a skilled and experienced CAD Faculty to train fashion design students in computer-aided design and digital fashion techniques. The faculty member will be responsible for delivering practical and theoretical sessions, demonstrating industry-standard CAD software, guiding students through assignments and projects, and developing their digital design and technical skills.
The ideal candidate should have strong proficiency in fashion CAD software, a good understanding of fashion design and garment development, and the ability to effectively teach and mentor students.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct engaging theoretical and practical CAD classes for fashion design students.
- Teach students the fundamentals and advanced techniques of Computer-Aided Design for Fashion.
- Train students in creating fashion illustrations, technical drawings, flats, garment details, and presentation boards using CAD software.
- Teach digital techniques for pattern development, garment visualization, and technical documentation, as applicable.
- Provide hands-on training in relevant software such as Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, CorelDRAW, CLO 3D, or other industry-relevant fashion CAD software.
- Demonstrate digital rendering, colouring, textures, prints, motifs, and surface design techniques.
- Guide students in converting their creative concepts into professional digital presentations.
- Teach students to develop technical flats, specification sheets, colourways, repeats, and textile/print designs.
- Introduce students to digital workflows used in the fashion and apparel industry.
- Guide students in completing CAD assignments, projects, portfolios, and industry-oriented briefs.
- Evaluate student work and provide constructive feedback to improve their technical and creative skills.
- Ensure students understand professional standards for file management, artwork presentation, dimensions, formats, and digital documentation.
- Keep updated with the latest developments in fashion technology, digital design, 3D fashion, AI-assisted design, and industry software.
- Prepare lesson plans, presentations, demonstrations, assignments, and practical exercises as required.
- Maintain student attendance, assessment records, internal marks, and academic documentation.
- Coordinate with the HOD and Academic Team for curriculum planning, assessments, exhibitions, and student activities.
- Ensure timely completion of assigned modules and academic deliverables.
- Maintain a professional and productive computer lab/classroom environment.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong proficiency in Fashion CAD and digital design.
- Excellent knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Knowledge of CLO 3D, CorelDRAW, or other fashion-specific CAD software will be an advantage.
- Good understanding of fashion design, garment construction, textiles, prints, and technical specifications.
- Ability to create professional fashion illustrations and technical flats.
- Strong visualisation and digital presentation skills.
- Ability to explain complex software techniques in a simple and practical manner.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Good time management and classroom management skills.
- Creative approach with strong attention to detail.
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, Textile Design, Fashion Technology, or a related field.
- Relevant certification in Fashion CAD/Digital Fashion Design will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 2–5 years of relevant teaching and/or industry experience in Fashion CAD, Digital Fashion Design, Apparel Design, or a related field.
- Candidates with strong industry expertise and proficiency in relevant CAD software may also be considered.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Strong practical knowledge of industry-standard fashion CAD software.
- Prior teaching or training experience in a fashion/design institute will be preferred.
- Industry exposure in fashion brands, apparel companies, design studios, or fashion technology will be an advantage.
- Portfolio demonstrating strong digital fashion illustrations, technical drawings, CAD designs, prints, or garment visualisations.
- Passionate about teaching and mentoring students.
- Ability to integrate contemporary digital tools and technologies into classroom learning.
