About Lady Andal Open School
Lady Andal Open School (LAOS) is an established special school in Chennai, founded by The Madras Seva Sadan, a renowned institution with a long-standing and respected legacy in education. Centrally located on a scenic campus, LAOS is dedicated to providing special education and vocational training for children and adults with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Learning Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities, and Down Syndrome.
The school offers pre-vocational and vocational training programmes, including the NIOS curriculum, and is supported by a multidisciplinary team of rehabilitation professionals providing physiotherapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy.

Who are we looking for:
We are looking for a Clinical Psychologist who is passionate about supporting diverse learners and fostering inclusive education. The ideal candidate must have expertise in designing and implementing lessons that accommodate varying learning styles and abilities, including students with autism, physical disabilities, learning difficulties, or
emotional/behavioural challenges. A person with strong interpersonal skills, along with patience, creativity, and a positive attitude, is our ideal candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, coordinators, therapists, and parents.
- Good report writing and documentation abilities.
- Workshop facilitation and counselling skills.
- Empathy, patience, and sensitivity while working with children and families.
- Organisational and coordination skills.
- Conduct IQ assessments and psychological evaluations for special children using standardised assessment tools.
- Record demographic and assessment details accurately in the MARG assessment format.
- Guide and refer children to relevant departments based on assessment findings and requirements.
- Compile assessment data and submit reports to the Coordinator of the Assessment and Guidance Department.
- Collaborate closely with class teachers and multidisciplinary teams to support students’ developmental and educational needs.
- Conduct regular workshops and awareness sessions for staff members on child psychology, behavioural management, and special education needs.
- Organise and facilitate workshops and counselling sessions for parents as required.
- Maintain confidentiality and proper documentation of all assessment records and reports.
- Support the institution in developing individualised intervention recommendations for children, where necessary.
- Participate in departmental meetings, case discussions, and professional development activities regularly
Skills and Qualifications:
- M.Sc. in Clinical Psychology from a recognised institution
- Valid Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) Certification.
- Minimum 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in clinical psychology, preferably working with children and special education settings.
- Strong understanding of psychological assessments, behavioural interventions, and child development.
- Experience in conducting developmental assessments for children with special needs.
- Knowledge of documentation, case history recording, and assessment reporting procedures.
- Teaching qualification or experience in special education (Preferred)
- Experience working with children with special educational needs (Preferred)
- Knowledge of the Tamil language is mandatory
- Experience with communication aids.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Patience, creativity, and a positive attitude.
