9. Furniture Draftsman
Purpose
To serve as the critical link between design concepts and production execution by creating detailed technical drawings that enable craftsmen to deliver WITHIN's exceptional designs with precision and consistency.
Key Responsibilities
- Transform design presentations and concepts into comprehensive AutoCAD production drawings for all departments
- Create detailed drawings for carpentry, polishing, metal shop, stone shop, upholstery and outsourced production
- Interpret design intent and resolve potential manufacturing challenges before production begins
- Document complete specifications including materials, finishes, hardware and assembly sequences
- Interface with costing team to incorporate estimates and support value engineering initiatives
- Maintain drawing standards, version control and archive of approved drawings and revisions
- Provide ongoing technical support to production teams and resolve drawing interpretation questions
- Coordinate design changes with affected production departments and maintain documentation accuracy

- Drawing accuracy and completeness - minimal clarification requests from production
- Design-to-production cycle time and efficiency of drawing development process
- Production feedback scores on drawing clarity and usability
- Drawing revision frequency and change management effectiveness
- Coordination effectiveness with Design team and production departments
- Support contribution to cost estimation accuracy and value engineering success
Key Competencies
- Advanced AutoCAD proficiency with furniture manufacturing and technical drawing expertise
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes across wood, metal, stone and upholstery
- Excellent communication skills for interface between Design and Production teams
- Attention to detail for accurate technical documentation and specification development
