We are seeking applications from candidates to support undergraduate and postgraduate students in developing English language proficiency and academic literacy across disciplines.
In this position, you will contribute to the ARC’s student‑support mandate through course teaching, workshop design, bridge programmes, and individual academic language support, with a primary emphasis on foundational language development and academic reading – writing in English.
The role combines classroom instruction, skills development, and targeted student mentoring within a student‑centered, developmental support framework.
As a Language Associate, you will:

Teach reading – writing courses for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Design and deliver workshop modules in ARC focus areas, including:

academic reading and comprehension

clarity and structure in academic writing
-
literature review practices
-
citation and referencing conventions
-
plagiarism awareness and academic integrity
-
note-taking and note-making strategies
-
ethical and responsible use of AI tools in academic work

Provide individual and small-group tutorial support for student writing and academic language development.

Develop and adapt context-sensitive learning materials for a diverse, multilingual student population.

Contribute to diagnostic and formative assessment of student academic language needs.

Participate in the design and delivery of pre-sessional and inter-sessional bridge/pathways programmes that support students’ transition into English-medium higher education and into the University’s pedagogic practices.
