Evolving Phylo-Lab, Centre for Ecological Sciences (CES), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and Freshwater Ecology and Conservation Lab, Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE), invite applications from highly motivated candidates who are willing to work both in the field and in the lab for the position of Junior Research Fellow (two positions) for a collaborative project funded by ANRF. The details of the position are as follows:
ANRF-funded project on phylogeny and biogeography of the cave-dwelling animals of Meghalaya. This project involves sampling selected animal taxa in and around the limestone caves of Meghalaya, NE, India. The overall goal of the project is to decipher the genomic mechanisms driving cave-adapted phenotypes and population genetic structure of cave fauna.
Fellowship: As per the ANRF
Place of work: CES, IISc, Bangalore and ATREE, Bangalore
Field site: Meghalaya
For both positions, candidates with NET/GATE qualifications are compulsory; relevant field/lab experience and published papers in the relevant area will be given preference. The selected candidate must be willing to travel extensively and conduct fieldwork. For the position at CES, IISc, experience with genomic data analysis is highly desired, including library preparation, NGS data analysis, and associated bioinformatics pipelines. And for the position at ATREE, the candidate should be willing to undertake research in invertebrate systematics and ecology.
