Job Summary:
We are seeking a Network Support Engineer to support the installation, maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of the institution's network infrastructure. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring reliable network connectivity, supporting wired and wireless networks, maintaining network devices, and providing technical assistance to users. The role requires strong networking knowledge, problem-solving skills, and the ability to maintain secure and efficient network operations.
Key Responsibilities:
· Install, configure, and maintain network infrastructure including switches, routers, firewalls, access points, and structured cabling systems.
· Monitor network performance and troubleshoot LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, internet connectivity, and other network-related issues.
· Configure and manage network services such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and VPNs.
· Monitor network security and ensure compliance with institutional IT security policies and access controls.
· Coordinate with internet service providers, vendors, and internal IT teams for network support and issue resolution.
· Provide technical support to faculty, staff, and students for network and connectivity-related requirements.
· Maintain network documentation, asset records, configuration details, and support logs.
· Perform preventive maintenance, routine health checks, and backups to ensure network reliability and availability.
· Assist in implementing new network technologies and infrastructure improvement initiatives.
Desired Candidates Qualifications
· Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, or a related field.
· 2–5 years of experience in network administration, network support, or IT infrastructure management.
· Strong knowledge of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs, routing, switching, and network security.
· Familiarity with routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers, Wi-Fi infrastructure, and network monitoring tools.
· Basic knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
· Ability to troubleshoot network connectivity, hardware, and software issues effectively.
· Good analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
· Ability to work independently and provide effective technical support to users.
· Network certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent will be an added advantage.
· Experience in educational institutions will be an added advantage.
