Job Summary
The P-Way Engineer is responsible for planning, execution, supervision, and maintenance of railway track (Permanent Way) works. The role involves ensuring quality, safety, and timely completion of track laying, track renewal, maintenance, and associated railway infrastructure activities in compliance with project specifications and railway standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise railway track construction, track laying, linking, welding, and maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and railway standards.
- Monitor track geometry, alignment, levels, gauge, and track quality parameters.
- Coordinate ballast laying, tamping, destressing, and track stabilization activities.
- Inspect and supervise rail welding works, including Thermit and Flash Butt Welding.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
- Coordinate with project managers, survey teams, quality control teams, and subcontractors.
- Ensure adherence to safety procedures and railway operational requirements.
- Conduct site inspections and identify corrective actions for track defects.
- Monitor manpower, equipment, and material utilization at site.
- Assist in planning block requirements and execution of track-related activities.
- Maintain project documentation, inspection records, and measurement books.
- Support testing and commissioning activities for newly laid railway tracks.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Relevant experience in railway track construction, maintenance, or metro rail projects.
- Knowledge of Indian Railways, DFCCIL, Metro Rail, or international railway standards.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and project reporting tools.
- Understanding of track machines, rail welding, ballast management, and track maintenance techniques.
