Job Summary
The Tandoor Commis Chef is responsible for assisting in the preparation and cooking of tandoor dishes while maintaining food quality, hygiene standards, and kitchen cleanliness. The role requires knowledge of tandoor operations, marination techniques, and safe food handling practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and marinate vegetables, and other ingredients as per recipes and standards.
- Operate and manage the tandoor oven safely and efficiently.
- Cook tandoori breads such as naan, roti, kulcha, and paratha.
- Prepare and cook tandoori appetizers and main-course dishes.
- Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and portion control.
- Assist senior chefs in daily food preparation and mise en place.
- Monitor stock levels and inform supervisors about shortages.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards at all times.
- Maintain cleanliness of the tandoor section, equipment, and workstations.
- Minimize food wastage and ensure proper storage of ingredients.
- Support the kitchen team during busy service periods.
Requirements
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience in a tandoor section.
- Basic knowledge of Indian and tandoori cuisine.
- Ability to operate a tandoor oven safely.
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays.
