Key Responsibilities1. Academic Leadership
- Provide leadership and direction for all Allied Health Sciences programmes.
- Ensure effective implementation of curriculum, academic calendars, teaching schedules, and examination processes.
- Monitor the quality of teaching, learning, practical training, and clinical education.
- Ensure compliance with applicable statutory, university, and regulatory requirements.
- Promote innovative teaching methodologies, technology-enabled learning, and competency-based education.
- Review academic performance and take appropriate corrective actions where required.
2. Faculty Management
- Lead, supervise, and evaluate teaching and non-teaching faculty.
- Participate in faculty recruitment, orientation, workload allocation, appraisal, and professional development.
- Ensure adequate faculty strength and appropriate faculty-student ratios as per regulatory requirements.
- Encourage faculty members to participate in research, conferences, publications, workshops, and continuing professional development.
- Conduct regular departmental and faculty meetings and ensure effective communication.
3. Clinical & Practical Training
- Coordinate with affiliated hospitals and clinical departments to ensure adequate clinical exposure for students.
- Ensure students receive structured practical and clinical training in relevant specialties.
- Monitor clinical postings, internships, skill-based training, attendance, and competency assessment.
- Ensure appropriate laboratory facilities, equipment, simulation facilities, and learning resources are available.
4. Student Administration & Welfare
- Oversee student admissions, orientation, attendance, academic progress, examinations, and discipline.
- Address student grievances and academic concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Promote student welfare, professional ethics, leadership, and extracurricular activities.
- Ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
- Mentor students and encourage participation in academic, research, and community activities.
5. Regulatory & Accreditation Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable university, government, statutory, accreditation, and professional regulatory requirements.
- Maintain academic and administrative records required for inspections and accreditation.
- Coordinate preparation for regulatory inspections, audits, accreditation visits, and institutional reviews.
- Ensure timely submission of statutory reports and documentation.
6. Research & Development
- Promote research activities among faculty and students.
- Encourage publications in reputed journals, research projects, presentations, and collaborations.
- Facilitate interdisciplinary research with medical, nursing, and other healthcare departments.
- Support research ethics, documentation, and compliance with institutional policies.
7. Infrastructure & Resource Management
- Assess and plan requirements for classrooms, laboratories, equipment, libraries, skill labs, and other academic facilities.
- Ensure proper utilisation and maintenance of institutional resources.
- Prepare departmental requirements and budgets in coordination with management.
- Monitor inventory, equipment maintenance, and academic resources.
8. Quality Assurance
- Establish and monitor academic quality standards.
- Review examination results, student feedback, faculty performance, and programme outcomes.
- Implement continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Support internal audits, academic reviews, accreditation activities, and institutional quality initiatives.
9. Administration & Coordination
- Coordinate with the Dean, Medical College, Hospital Administration, HR, Finance, Admissions, Examination Cell, and other departments.
- Develop and implement departmental policies, SOPs, and academic procedures.
- Prepare and submit regular academic and administrative reports to management.
- Represent the Allied Health Sciences department in institutional meetings and external academic forums.
