Diploma in CSSD Technology with minimum 0-6 Month experience.
- Decontamination & Cleaning: Safely wash and disinfect soiled medical instruments and equipment using automated washers and ultrasonic cleaners.
- Assembly & Packaging: Inspect instruments for functionality, assemble surgical trays, and package them in specialized wraps or containers.
- Sterilization: Operate sophisticated sterilization equipment such as autoclaves, ethylene oxide (ETO) sterilizers, and plasma sterilizers.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor and document sterilization cycles using mechanical, chemical, and biological indicators to ensure compliance with strict regulatory standards.
- Inventory Management: Organize and maintain accurate records of sterile supplies, ensuring proper labeling, storage, and timely distribution to operating theaters and hospital wards.
- Safety & Compliance: Strictly adhere to infection control protocols, environmental controls (temperature/humidity), and bio-medical waste disposal guidelines.
Essential Qualifications
- Education: A high school diploma (10+2) with a background in science, followed by a certified Diploma or B.Sc. in CSSD Technology.
- Certifications: Recognized certifications such as CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) or CBSPD are highly preferred by employers.
- Technical Skills: Mastery of sterilization techniques, infection prevention, and operating decontamination machinery.
Soft Skills & Work Environment
- Work Setting: Typically works in indoor hospital environments, specifically within the central sterile supply unit, operating alongside surgeons, scrub nurses, and hospital management.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous observation is required, as a single oversight can compromise patient safety.
- Physical Demands: Involves long hours of standing, lifting heavy instrument trays, and exposure to heat, steam, and chemical disinfectants.
