Job Summary:
The Commis 2 – Pastry assists senior pastry staff in preparing and producing a range of
bakery and dessert items. This is an entry-level role ideal for individuals looking to build a
career in pastry arts by gaining hands-on experience and learning fundamental pastry
techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with basic preparation tasks such as measuring, mixing, portioning, and
assembling pastry components.
- Support the team in producing breads, cakes, cookies, tarts, mousses, and other
desserts.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry section according to hygiene and
food safety standards (HACCP).
- Assist with mise en place for service and daily operations.
- Store ingredients and finished products correctly and safely.
- Follow instructions from senior pastry chefs (Commis 1, DCDP, CDP).
- Help with dishwashing and cleaning duties as required.
- Practice correct handling of kitchen equipment and tools.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of baking and pastry techniques.
- Diploma or coursework in Pastry/Culinary Arts (preferred but not mandatory).
- Previous internship or 6–12 months of kitchen experience (advantageous).
- Eagerness to learn and grow in a professional pastry environment.
- Good hygiene, grooming, and organizational habits.
- Ability to work in a team and follow instructions accurately.
