Position description: The role involves overseeing and managing the operational activities of the Slab & Bloom Caster section within the SMS-II Operations department at Jindal Stainless Limited. The incumbent will ensure smooth shift operations, maintain production targets, uphold safety and quality standards, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to optimize process efficiency in a high-demand mining and metals environment. This position requires strong leadership, technical expertise in steel casting processes, and the ability to troubleshoot operational issues promptly to minimize downtime and ensure continuous production flow.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate all activities during the shift in the Slab & Bloom Caster unit to ensure adherence to production schedules and quality standards.
- Monitor equipment performance and process parameters, initiating corrective actions to maintain optimal operational efficiency and product quality.
- Lead and mentor shift team members, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to schedule and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance activities to minimize unplanned downtime.
- Analyze production data and generate shift reports highlighting key performance indicators, operational challenges, and improvement opportunities.
- Implement and enforce environmental, health, and safety regulations specific to the mining and metals industry within the operational area.
- Coordinate with quality control and process engineering teams to resolve production issues and implement process enhancements.
- Manage resource allocation including manpower, materials, and equipment to meet production targets efficiently.
- Conduct shift handover meetings to ensure seamless communication and continuity between shifts.
- Drive root cause analysis for operational disruptions and lead problem-solving initiatives to enhance process reliability.
