Job Summary
We are looking for a compassionate and experienced Staff Nurse to join our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). The ideal candidate will have 2–5 years of experience in pediatric critical care and possess strong clinical skills in managing critically ill children. The candidate should be committed to delivering safe, evidence-based, and family-centered care while working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU.
- Monitor and assess patients' clinical condition, vital signs, and response to treatment.
- Administer medications, intravenous therapies, blood products, and treatments as prescribed.
- Assist physicians during emergency procedures, resuscitation, intubation, and other critical care interventions.
- Operate and monitor critical care equipment, including ventilators, infusion pumps, cardiac monitors, and other life-support devices.
- Maintain accurate nursing documentation, patient assessments, and treatment records.
- Ensure strict adherence to infection prevention and patient safety protocols.
- Collaborate with pediatricians, intensivists, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated care.
- Educate and support patients' families regarding treatment plans, procedures, and post-discharge care.
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies and participate in rapid response and code blue situations.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient care environment.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, departmental audits, and continuous professional development programs.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of pediatric critical care nursing practices.
- Proficiency in handling ventilators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, and other ICU equipment.
- Excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergencies.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Compassionate, patient-focused, and committed to delivering high-quality care.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is preferred.
- Experience in a NABH-accredited or multispecialty hospital is an added advantage.
