Key Responsibilities
1. Trend Research & Conceptualization
Social & Global Scouting: Research seasonal trends in silhouettes, fabrics, color palettes, print directions, and surface techniques relevant to D2C and fast-fashion categories (Streetwear, Co-ords, Y2K, Minimal Basics).
Concept Contribution: Build mood boards, color stories, silhouette directions, and print concepts that define upcoming brand cohorts.
Competitor Benchmarking: Analyze leading digital-first & high-street brands to identify gaps in silhouettes, trims, prints, washes, and surface design opportunities.
2. Apparel & Print Artwork Design
Design Creation: Develop trend-right apparel designs across tops, bottoms, dresses, and co-ords, incorporating detailing, trims, and surface design.
Denim-Aware Design: Apply working knowledge of denim fits, construction, and washes where relevant—without the role being denim-heavy.
Original Print Artwork: Create original prints, graphics, repeats, and placements using Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop or hand-drawn techniques.
Rendering & Visualization: Render prints on apparel sketches/technical flats to accurately show scale, placement, and colorway options.
Line Sheet Maintenance: Maintain clear and updated documentation of all designs, prints, iterations, and allocations aligned with seasonal range plans.
3. Technical Design & Techpacks
Production-Ready Techpacks: Prepare detailed techpacks outlining garment construction, measurements, trims, stitch lines, and wash notes.
Print Techpacks: Create complete print techpacks covering scaling, repeat types (straight/half-drop), placements, and artwork callouts.
Fabric & Technique Optimization: Recommend fabric bases, printing techniques (Digital, Screen, Sublimation), surface finishes, and wash methods suited to each category.
Color Standardization: Manage color accuracy using Pantone FHI to ensure consistent outcomes from sampling to bulk.
4. Vendor Collaboration & Quality Assurance
Cross-Functional Liaison: Partner closely with Sourcing, Buying, and Factory Ops teams to ensure cost-effective and feasible apparel designs and custom prints.
Strike-Off & Lab Dip Approvals: Own the complete follow-up and approval process for fabric strike-offs, print strike-offs, and lab dips, resolving issues like misalignment or color bleed.
Warehouse & Sourcing Alignment: Work with mills and vendors to maintain an agile fabric and printing base that supports fast turnaround timelines.
5. Lifecycle & Calendar Management
Calendar Discipline: Manage the design workflow strictly within seasonal deadlines to support rapid concept-to-delivery cycles.
Fitting & Silhouette Integration: Participate in fit sessions with the Tech team to ensure print placements translate cleanly across sizes and garment contours.
Marketing & Catalog Support: Provide creative inputs and narrative print stories to the Cataloging and Marketing teams for product descriptions and campaign assets.
