Role Overview :
Own the P&L, assortment strategy and growth roadmap for Rozana's non-staples consumer business — Fashion, General Merchandise and FMCG — sold across Rozana's retail experience centres and app. This is a build role: you will structure and scale the buying, sourcing and planning teams needed to serve rural and semi-urban households across the Gangetic belt with the right product, price and quality, starting with a ground-up revamp of the Fashion department.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own revenue, margin and inventory-turn targets for Fashion, GM and FMCG categories.
- Define category strategy and assortment architecture suited to rural/semi-urban household needs, local aesthetics, price points and seasonality.
- Build and lead the category organisation: hire and mentor the Planning Head and Category Leaders; establish the operating cadence between planning, buying, sourcing and store operations.
- Set and govern OTB (open-to-buy), pricing and markdown strategy in partnership with the Planning Head.
- Own the vendor and manufacturing-partner strategy, including anchor vendor relationships negotiated alongside category and sourcing teams.
- Ensure quality, fit and cost benchmarks are met given Rozana's value/mass-market positioning.
- Partner with supply chain, store operations and the Rozana Behna network (women entrepreneurs who run last-mile fulfilment) to ensure availability and sell-through.
- Report performance, risks and opportunities to the co-founder and leadership team.
REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE
- 12–18+ years in retail, fashion & lifestyle merchandising or category management, including at least 4–5 years in a P&L-owning category/business head role.
- Proven experience building or scaling a fashion, GM or FMCG category function, ideally within a hypermarket, supermarket or large-format value retail chain.
- Strong commercial acumen across OTB planning, margin management, vendor negotiation and inventory productivity.
- Track record of building teams from scratch and operating in a lean, high-ownership environment — start-up/scale-up experience preferred.
- Comfortable with the rural/Bharat consumer context and the price-quality trade-offs of value retail.
