Job Purpose:
Key Responsibilities:
The Mechanical Fitter is responsible for assembling, installing, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing mechanical components, machinery, and industrial equipment in accordance with technical drawings, engineering specifications, and safety standards. The role requires diagnosing mechanical faults, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, ensuring equipment reliability, and supporting uninterrupted production operations. The Mechanical Fitter works closely with engineers, supervisors, and production teams to achieve operational excellence while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
* Assemble, install, and commission mechanical components, machinery, and equipment as per engineering drawings, technical specifications, and standard operating procedures.
* Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance (PM), breakdown maintenance, and corrective repairs to ensure optimum equipment performance and minimize downtime.
* Diagnose mechanical faults using appropriate hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment.
* Dismantle, repair, replace, adjust, align, and reassemble mechanical components such as bearings, gears, shafts, couplings, pumps, conveyors, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems.
* Assist in equipment installation, relocation, commissioning, and shutdown maintenance activities.
* Work collaboratively with engineers, production personnel, and supervisors to identify recurring equipment problems and implement effective corrective and preventive solutions.
* Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, service logs, and equipment history for compliance and operational tracking.
* Support fabrication, modification, and improvement of mechanical components and assemblies whenever required.
* Ensure proper lubrication, alignment, calibration, and operational readiness of mechanical equipment.
* Follow all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) guidelines, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, permit-to-work systems, and company safety policies.
* Maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring tools, spare parts, and work areas are clean, organized, and properly stored.
* Participate in technical training, skill development programs, Kaizen activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Assist during machine overhauls, preventive shutdowns, and emergency maintenance activities.
* Perform any other maintenance-related duties assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor or Management.
Technical Skills:
* Strong understanding of mechanical systems, industrial machinery, assembly techniques, and maintenance practices.
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals.
* Knowledge of bearings, gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
* Basic understanding of electrical systems and machine controls is desirable.

Qualifications & Experience:
* Education - ITI in Fitter/Mechanical Trade or equivalent.
* High School Diploma or equivalent. - Technical or vocational certification in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field will be an added advantage.
* Experience - 2–5 years of relevant experience in mechanical fitting, industrial maintenance, machine assembly, or equipment servicing.
* Basic electrical maintenance knowledge is preferred.
Working Conditions:
* Work in manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environments.
* Standing, walking, bending, lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces may be required.
* May be required to work in shifts, weekends, overtime, or during emergency maintenance shutdowns.
* Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
