Job Responsibilities
- Perform fitting, assembly, installation, and maintenance work on ships, vessels, offshore structures, and marine equipment.
- Read and understand marine fabrication drawings, layouts, dimensions, and specifications.
- Measure, mark, cut, align, and assemble metal components accurately.
- Carry out fitting work for pipes, plates, structures, supports, brackets, and machinery components.
- Perform drilling, grinding, cutting, and other fitting-related activities.
- Ensure proper alignment, level, dimensions, and positioning of components.
- Assist welders during fabrication and assembly activities.
- Carry out repair, modification, and maintenance work during shipbuilding and ship repair projects.
- Use hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and fitting equipment safely.
- Inspect completed work and rectify fitting or alignment issues when required.
- Follow project specifications, work instructions, and marine safety procedures.
- Maintain tools and equipment and keep the work area clean and safe.
- Coordinate with welders, supervisors, engineers, and other site personnel to complete work on schedule.
Requirements
- ITI / Vocational qualification in Fitter / Mechanical Fitter / Fabrication preferred.
- Previous experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, marine, offshore, or heavy fabrication is preferred.
- Good knowledge of fitting, fabrication, and assembly techniques.
- Ability to read and understand engineering/fabrication drawings.
- Knowledge of basic measuring and hand tools.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, at height, and in marine/site conditions.
- Good awareness of workplace and marine safety procedures.
