Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Continental Chef to join our kitchen team and deliver high-quality continental cuisine. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in European cooking techniques, creativity in menu planning, and the ability to maintain consistency, hygiene, and efficiency in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and oversee the preparation of continental dishes, including Italian, French, and Mediterranean cuisines
- Ensure consistency in taste, quality, and presentation of all dishes
- Design, update, and innovate the menu while maintaining authenticity
- Assist in all areas of the kitchen for breakfast, lunch, and dinner operations
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen workstations
- Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and food hygiene standards
- Prepare, cook, and present high-quality dishes within the specialty section
- Assist the Head Chef and Sous Chef in menu planning, recipe creation, and dish development
- Handle preparation of sauces, meats, seafood, pasta, and bakery items
- Monitor portion control and minimize food wastage
- Oversee kitchen equipment maintenance and safe usage
- Train and guide Commis Chefs and junior kitchen staff
- Monitor inventory levels and assist in stock control
- Ensure smooth kitchen operations during peak service hours
- Maintain proper storage of ingredients as per food safety standards
- Provide support and service to staff and customers when required
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Continental Chef or similar role
- Strong knowledge of continental cooking techniques and ingredients
- Experience in Italian, French, and European cuisine
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Good leadership and teamwork skills
- Sound knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
- Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred
Knowledge & Expertise
- Knowledge of Firefighting and Fire Safety procedures
- Strong understanding of HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points)
- Expertise in sauce preparation, baking, and plating techniques
- Knowledge of inventory management and cost control
- Experience in menu engineering and food costing
- Ability to handle event catering and bulk food production
