An Emergency Medicine Technician (EMT) provides immediate medical care to patients in emergency situations such as accidents, trauma, cardiac arrest, and critical illness—both on-site and during transport to the hospital.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first aid and life support (CPR, oxygen therapy)
- Assess patient condition and stabilize vital signs
- Assist in trauma and emergency procedures
- Safely transport patients in ambulances
- Use emergency equipment (defibrillator, oxygen cylinders, stretchers)
- Communicate patient status to doctors and hospital staff
- Maintain ambulance readiness and equipment hygiene
- Handle emergency calls quickly and efficiently
Required Qualifications
- Diploma / Certificate in Emergency Medical Technology
- BSc in Emergency & Trauma Care (preferred)
- Certifications like BLS (Basic Life Support) & ACLS are highly valuable
