A Quality Control (QC) Engineer for Electric Overhead Travelling (EOT) Crane manufacturing inspects raw materials, monitors structural welding, and executes load tests. Key focus areas include incoming material verification, in-process fabrication checks, and final electrical-mechanical testing. [1, 2]Core Responsibilities
- Incoming Material Inspection: Check raw steel plates, structural sections, gearboxes, wire ropes, hooks, motors, and brakes against bill of materials and standard drawings. [1, 2]
- Fabrication & Welding Quality: Monitor bridge girders, end carriages, and trolley frames for dimensional accuracy, straightness, camber, and compliance with welding standards (WPS/PQR) using NDT (UT/MPI) methods. [1, 2]
- In-Process & Assembly Checks: Inspect mechanical alignment of drive mechanisms, wheel assemblies, drum alignments, and verify electrical panel wiring, VFD/PLC setups, and limit switch operations. [1, 2]
- Load Testing & Commissioning: Conduct rigorous static and dynamic load tests to verify structural deflection, braking efficiency, and hoist capacity safety margins before dispatch. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain inspection checklists, material test certificates (MTC), non-conformance reports (NCR), and issue final test and ex-work compliance certificates as per IS/ISO standards. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of IS 3177, IS 807, or international crane codes (FEM/CMAA/ISO), and reading complex CAD assembly drawings. [1, 2]
- Specialized Skills: Certifications in NDT (Level II in UT/DPT/MPI) and hands-on familiarity with measuring instruments, gauges, and electrical testing tools. [1]
