They manage in-process checks, prevent defects from leaving the facility, and verify that all products conform to engineering drawings and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspections: Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI), in-process checks, and final product evaluations before shipment.
- Defect Management: Perform root cause analysis and issue Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) for any fabrication defects (e.g., bending inaccuracies, poor welds).
- Drawing Validation: Review blueprints and ensure fabricated metal parts meet GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) limits.
- Equipment Oversight: Monitor and calibrate measurement tools (e.g., CMM, Vernier calipers, micrometers, and gauges).
- Compliance: Enforce quality standards aligned with ISO 9001 and customer specifications.
Essential Requirements
- Education: Diploma or B.Tech/B.E. in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or Industrial Manufacturing.
- Experience: Typically 2 to 7 years in a press shop or sheet metal fabrication environment.
