Role Overview
The Assistant Purchase Manager will support the Head of Procurement in streamlining the end-to-end supply chain for Electric Vehicle components. You will be the primary lead for Battery Cell/Pack procurement, ensuring a resilient supply of critical materials while managing costs, quality, and sustainability compliance in a fast-evolving market.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Battery & Component Sourcing
- · Battery Lifecycle Management: Source Lithium-ion cells (LFP, NMC) and battery pack components, ensuring alignment with 2026's focus on recyclability and low-cobalt chemistries.
- · Supplier Scouting: Identify and onboard global and local vendors for motors, controllers, and power electronics, prioritizing "Gigafactory" partners.
- · Vendor Development: Conduct technical audits and manage the APQP/PPAP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) process to ensure suppliers meet automotive-grade safety standards.
2. Procurement & Contract Management
- · Negotiation: Drive multi-year contract negotiations to hedge against raw material price volatility (Lithium, Nickel, Graphite).
- · Cost Optimization: Implement Should-Costing and Total Landed Cost (TLC) analysis to identify savings without compromising vehicle range or safety.
- · Import/Export: Manage international logistics, including INCOTERMS, customs documentation, and HS code compliance for imported cells.
3. Supply Chain Resilience & Technology
- · AI-Driven Planning: Utilize ERP systems (SAP/Oracle) and predictive analytics to forecast demand and prevent "line-down" situations.
- · Risk Mitigation: Maintain a "Dual-Sourcing" strategy for critical components to protect the company from geopolitical disruptions.
- · Inventory Control: Coordinate with the warehouse to maintain optimal safety stock levels of high-value battery modules.
4. Sustainability & Compliance
- · Green Procurement: Ensure all battery suppliers comply with 2026 sustainability mandates and carbon footprint reporting.
- · Regulatory Alignment: Stay updated on EV subsidies, PLI schemes (if applicable), and battery safety standards (e.g., AIS 156, UN 38.3).
