Location: Coimbatore.
Job Summary
The Pathologist is responsible for examining, diagnosing, and interpreting laboratory specimens related to gastrointestinal diseases, hepatobiliary disorders, oncology cases, and associated medical conditions. The role involves providing accurate histopathology, cytology, hematology, and molecular diagnostic reports to support clinicians and surgeons in patient diagnosis and treatment planning.
The Pathologist collaborates closely with oncologists, gastroenterologists, surgeons, radiologists, and laboratory personnel to ensure high standards of diagnostic accuracy, patient safety, and compliance with hospital quality protocols.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical & Diagnostic Responsibilities
- Examine and interpret tissue biopsies, surgical specimens, cytology smears, and body fluids.
- Diagnose gastrointestinal cancers, liver diseases, pancreatic disorders, inflammatory bowel diseases, and related conditions.
- Provide accurate histopathology and cytopathology reports within established turnaround times.
- Perform frozen section analysis during surgeries when required.
- Interpret immunohistochemistry (IHC) and special staining results.
- Correlate pathological findings with clinical and radiological information.
- Participate in multidisciplinary tumor board meetings and cancer case discussions.
- Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of pathology records and reports.
- Review and validate laboratory test results before release.
Laboratory Management
- Supervise laboratory technicians, technologists, and support staff.
- Ensure proper handling, processing, labeling, and storage of specimens.
- Monitor laboratory quality control and quality assurance activities.
- Maintain compliance with NABH, NABL, CAP, and other applicable standards.
- Ensure calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Implement infection control and biomedical waste management protocols.
- Monitor inventory of laboratory reagents, consumables, and supplies.
Oncology-Specific Responsibilities
- Diagnose benign and malignant tumors with staging support.
- Evaluate biopsy adequacy for oncology diagnosis.
- Assist oncologists with biomarker interpretation and molecular pathology findings.
- Participate in cancer screening and early detection programs.
- Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in cancer registry documentation.
Academic & Research Responsibilities
- Participate in clinical audits, research projects, and pathology reviews.
- Conduct CME programs and training sessions for medical and laboratory staff.
- Guide junior doctors, residents, and laboratory personnel.
- Stay updated with advancements in pathology, molecular diagnostics, and oncology practices.
Qualification Requirements
- MBBS with MD/DNB in Pathology from a recognized institution.
- Valid Medical Council Registration.
- Fellowship or experience in Oncopathology/Gastrointestinal Pathology preferred.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Histopathology and Cytopathology.
- Experience in a Gastroenterology or Oncology Hospital preferred.
- Hands-on experience in IHC, frozen section reporting, and cancer diagnostics desirable.

Pay: ₹160,000.00 - ₹250,000.00 per month
