About the Project
2DO (Doctor Second Opinion) is a healthcare technology initiative aimed at making specialist medical opinions accessible and affordable for everyone.
We are conducting a large-scale field research project to understand how patients currently seek second medical opinions, their healthcare preferences, and how local healthcare providers such as pharmacies, clinics, pathology labs, and Aarogya Kendras can participate in improving access to specialist consultations.
Internship Objective
As a Healthcare Field Research Intern, you will interact directly with patients, families, pharmacies, clinics, pathology laboratories, Aarogya Kendras, and other healthcare providers to gather valuable insights that will help shape the future of digital healthcare services in India.
This is a field-based research internship involving community engagement, healthcare surveys, and ecosystem mapping.
Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Research
Conduct face-to-face interviews with local residents to understand:
- Whether they are aware of medical second opinions.
- What motivates them to seek a second opinion.
- Which medical conditions they would prefer specialist consultation for.
- Current sources of medical advice (family doctor, specialist, local physician, etc.).
- Approximate amount they are willing to spend for specialist consultation.
- Willingness to use a simple mobile app for consulting experienced specialists.
- Challenges faced while accessing specialist doctors.
- Preferred language for consultation.
- Comfort with online/video consultations.
Target:
Minimum 25 completed patient interviews.
Healthcare Partner Research
Meet and interact with:
- Pharmacy Shops
- Medical Stores
- Local Clinics
- Aarogya Kendras
- Pathology Laboratories
- Diagnostic Centres
Understand:
- Their interest in facilitating doctor second opinions.
- Expected commission or referral incentive.
- Operational support required.
- Patient referral process.
- Technology requirements.
- Preferred payment model.
- Challenges in implementation.
Target:
Minimum 15 healthcare establishments.
Documentation
Maintain accurate records of:
- Survey responses.
- Business details.
- Contact information.
- Geo-location (where permitted).
- Photographs of visits.
- Daily activity reports.
Deliverables
Each intern must submit:
- Minimum 25 Patient Survey Forms
- Minimum 15 Healthcare Provider Survey Forms
- Photographic evidence of visits
- Daily activity tracker
- Final summary report highlighting observations and recommendations
