Role:
We’re looking for senior counsellors who are aligned with the organization’s aspiration of creating a mental health infrastructure in the country, for the underserved. Please note:
- This is a full-time role.
- Candidates will be contractually bound to not see clients outside of Mann Talks.
- The candidate will be expected to work 5.5 days a week, 9 hours a day with an hour’s break in accordance with the shift-rotation system.
- Selected candidates will have to undergo training to update themselves with the protocols followed at Mann Talks, before they start attending to calls and emails from clients, or supervising juniors.
- Counselling at Mann Talks is a supervised activity whereby an opportunity to learn and upgrade themselves on one hand and to take care of their own mental health on the other, is provided on an ongoing basis.
Responsibilities:
- Counselling via calls, video/in-person, maintaining session records, working on reports of the counselling sessions.
- Supporting in content creation and vetting for any publicity and outreach activities for the promotion of services.
- Keeping track of the team’s referral work; updating and vetting the referral database.
- Assisting the program officer(s) in managing and training the team of junior counsellors.
- Supervising the team of junior counsellors. Managing a team of their own.
- Offering peer supervision and assisting with the onboarding of new counsellors.
Desirous Candidates Must:
- Possess a Master’s degree in Counselling or Clinical Psychology
- Have relevant experience of 3-6 years post Masters.
- Have sound knowledge of therapeutic process skills and psychotherapy. Incorporate rights based, intersectional and trauma informed approaches in counselling.
- Be fluent in English and Hindi, with strong written communication skills in English; proficiency in additional regional languages is an advantage
- Be comfortable in the use of computers for the purpose of documentation, data analysis and email-based counselling
- Be willing to commit for a duration of at least a year
Working Hours: Counsellors work 5.5 days per week on a rotational basis, as the helpline operates 7 days a week. Working days are revised every quarter. Daily shifts are 9 hours long (including a 1-hour break), scheduled within helpline operating hours (9:00 AM–8:00 PM). Shift timings are rotated fortnightly.

Location: Mumbai (Harbour line) (full-time, in-office role with limited work-from-home provisions)

The position is offered for an initial period of one year, with the possibility of extension based on performance and mutual agreement.
Compensation will be commensurate with the candidate’s skills and experience, in line with sector standards. Benefits include health insurance, leave encashment, self-care allowance and paid time off (22 privileged leaves, 7 sick leaves, 7 casual leaves and 11 public holidays).
