Job Description: Quality Control (QC) Executive – Biofilms & Flexible Packaging
Job Overview
We are looking for a meticulous QC Executive to manage the shop-floor and laboratory physical inspection of our flexible packaging lines, specifically focusing on biodegradable films (biofilms) and specialized bags.
In this role, your primary responsibility will be ensuring the physical, dimensional, and visual integrity of the films from the extrusion stage through printing and final rewinding/slitting. You will ensure that every batch matches exact customer specifications before it leaves the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Dimensional & Physical Inspection: Perform regular inline and final checks on critical physical attributes using precision instruments:
- Thickness Management: Utilize micrometers and digital gauge meters to monitor and control gauge variation across the film web.
- Width & Layflat Measurement: Verify exact width and layflat dimensions against customer order specifications.
- Printing & Aesthetic Quality Control: Inspect surface treatment (Corona treatment levels) and print quality on the films. Check for registration alignment, ink adhesion (tape test), color consistency, and defects like streaks or spots.
- Winding & Roll Geometry Evaluation: Monitor the slitting and rewinding process to ensure perfect roll profiles. Inspect for telescoping, uneven tension, wrinkles, core offsets, and proper winding tightness.
- Shop-Floor Line Clearance: Conduct stage-wise inspections during blown film extrusion, printing, and bag cutting/sealing to grant line clearance for production runs.
- Non-Conformance Management: Identify visual or physical defects (e.g., gels, pinholes, poor bottom seals) early in the cycle. Isolate non-conforming material and coordinate with the production team for immediate adjustments.
- Reporting: Maintain detailed daily shift QC logs, inspection checklists, and generate final inspection reports.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education:
- Diploma / B.Tech from CIPET (Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology) or IITs (Packaging/Polymer specializations).
- B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Plastics, Polymer Science, or Chemistry.
- Experience: 2 to 5 years of hands-on floor QC experience in blown film extrusion, rotogravure/flexographic printing, or bag manufacturing units.
- Technical Expertise:
- Expert proficiency in handling physical measurement tools: Micrometers, Vernier calipers, thickness gauges, and Corona treat testers.
- Sharp visual acumen for detecting print variations, winding flaws, and structural film defects.
- Understanding of how machine parameters affect physical film behavior (e.g., blow-up ratio, winding tension).
- Attributes: High attention to detail, a strict quality-first mindset, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing shift environment.
Benefits & Benefits
- Competitive compensation aligned with experience and qualifications.
- Clear career progression within a rapidly expanding sustainable packaging portfolio.
- Exposure to state-of-the-art extrusion and testing infrastructure.
