Role Context: The Terai Tiger Project is a long-term human-wildlife conflict mitigation initiative implemented by the Wildlife Trust of India (WTI) across the Pilibhit–Dudhwa–Katerniaghat landscape in Uttar Pradesh. The project focuses on promoting coexistence between local communities and large carnivores through scientific interventions, community engagement, rapid response mechanisms, and conservation-based management practices.
The Field Officer will be responsible for supporting the implementation of project activities related to conflict mitigation, ecological monitoring, wildlife research, community outreach, and coordination with government agencies and local stakeholders. The position requires extensive field engagement, scientific data management, emergency response support, and effective coordination with project teams to achieve project objectives and organizational goals. The Key Responsibilities are as follows –
- Support implementation of project activities in accordance with approved project plans and timelines.
- Participate in and coordinate wildlife conflict response activities as part of the Rapid Response Team (RRT) within the project landscape.
- Support monitoring and tracking of conflict-prone wildlife species and provide timely information to facilitate community awareness and risk mitigation measures.
- Assist in implementing project activities related to human-wildlife conflict mitigation, coexistence promotion, and wildlife conservation.
- Coordinate with Primary Response Teams (PRTs), local communities, Forest Department personnel, and other stakeholders for effective project execution.
- Conduct field surveys, wildlife monitoring, camera trapping, habitat assessments, sign surveys, and related ecological studies.
- Ensure compliance with project timelines, work plans, and organizational standards during field implementation.

Research, Monitoring & Data Management
- Collect, compile, validate, and maintain ecological and conflict-related data from project sites.
- Analyse field data and generate insights to support adaptive management and informed decision-making.
- Maintain systematic records of wildlife sightings, conflict incidents, habitat assessments, and project interventions.
- Support preparation of technical reports, scientific documentation, and project monitoring outputs.
- Assist in the use of GIS, statistical tools, databases, and other technological applications for project monitoring and reporting.
Community Engagement & Capacity Building
- Conduct awareness and sensitization programmes for local communities, educational institutions, and other stakeholders.
- Facilitate community participation in conservation and coexistence initiatives.
- Support capacity-building programmes for field staff, community volunteers, Primary Response Teams, and other stakeholders.
- Promote positive relationships with local communities to strengthen project outcomes and stakeholder engagement.
Fund & Financial Management
- Support preparation of activity budgets and resource requirements for project implementation.
- Ensure efficient and responsible utilization of project resources and assets.
- Maintain supporting records and documentation related to project expenditures as per organizational policies and donor guidelines.
- Assist in financial reporting and budget monitoring as required by the Project Head.
- Ensure compliance with financial procedures, procurement guidelines, and internal controls established by the organization.
Coordination & Stakeholder Management
- Liaise with Forest Department officials, local administration, academic institutions, conservation organizations, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Assist in organizing meetings, workshops, training programmes, and stakeholder consultations.
- Represent the project during field visits, review meetings, and relevant conservation forums as assigned.
- Maintain effective communication with project partners and stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation of project activities.
- Participate in organizational meetings, trainings, reviews, and performance management processes as required.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual progress reports as required by the Project Head and Division.
- Document field activities, success stories, case studies, and project achievements.
- Ensure timely submission of reports, data sheets, field records, and other project-related documentation.
- Support preparation of donor reports, technical notes, presentations, and project communication materials.
Donor Coordination
- Contribute to preparation of donor reports, technical updates, and project documentation.
- Support donor visits, field demonstrations, and monitoring missions as required.
- Ensure project activities and documentation comply with donor commitments and reporting requirements.
- Assist in compilation of information and data required for proposal development and fundraising initiatives.
External Communication & Coordination
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with local communities, government agencies, Forest Department officials, academic institutions, and conservation partners.
- Represent the project during meetings, workshops, consultations, training programmes, and relevant conservation forums as authorized.
- Support preparation of communication materials, case studies, success stories, and outreach content for organizational publications and digital platforms.
- Facilitate information sharing and coordination among stakeholders to strengthen project implementation and conservation outcomes.
- Promote the objectives, values, and conservation mission of the Wildlife Trust of India through professional engagement with stakeholders.
Any Other Responsibilities
- Undertake any additional assignments, responsibilities, or special projects entrusted by the Project Head, Division Head, or organizational leadership from time to time.
- Support organizational initiatives that contribute to the objectives of the Conflict Mitigation & Coexistence Division.
