Role Summary
The melting supervisor is responsible for supervising all melting operations in the furnace area, ensuring proper metal quality, safe furnace operation, and achieving daily production targets with minimum rejection and wastage.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise furnace melting operations (Induction / Cupola / Arc furnace as applicable)
- Ensure correct charging of raw materials as per heat sheet
- Maintain required chemical composition of molten metal
- Monitor furnace temperature, power consumption, and melting cycle time
- Coordinate with QC team for sample testing and chemical adjustments
- Ensure proper slag removal and metal cleanliness
- Control metal loss and improve yield
- Maintain production records (heat number, weight, alloy addition, etc.)
- Ensure availability of raw material and consumables
- Lead furnace operators, helpers, and charging team
- Follow safety procedures and ensure PPE usage in melting area
- Minimize downtime and breakdown issues in furnace area
Skills & Qualifications
- ITI / Diploma / B.E. (Metallurgy / Mechanical preferred)
- 2–5+ years' experience in foundry or steel melting operations
- Knowledge of furnace operation and metal chemistry
- Ability to read heat charts and chemical reports
- Leadership and manpower handling skills
- Strong focus on safety and quality

- Metal yield percentage
- Rejection rate
- Furnace efficiency & downtime
- Production output vs target
- Safety compliance (zero accidents target)
Working Conditions
- Shop floor / temperature environment
- Shift duty (Day)
- Full PPE mandatory (helmet, face shield, heat-resistant clothing, etc.)
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
