Job Purpose
The Lab Instructor will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy laboratories at SR Group of Institutions, Jhansi. The role involves supporting faculty in conducting practical coursework, maintaining specialized lab instruments, ensuring Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and guiding D.Pharm and B.Pharm students during hands-on experiments.
Key Responsibilities1. Practical Instruction & Lab Operations
- Assist faculty in executing practical lab sessions across key disciplines including Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology, Pharmacognosy, and Pharmaceutical Analysis.
- Demonstrate practical procedures, correct equipment operation, and safe chemical handling methods to students.
- Prepare chemical reagents, standard solutions, apparatus, and media prior to scheduled practical sessions.
- Supervise students during lab hours to ensure strict adherence to laboratory safety protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
2. Equipment, Inventory & Maintenance
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments (e.g., UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, Dissolution Test Apparatus, Tablet Punching Machine, HPLC, Digital Balances, Centrifuges).
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date inventory registers for chemicals, glassware, active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), and equipment.
- Maintain equipment usage logbooks, instrument calibration records, and breakage registers.
- Report equipment faults to the HOD/Director and coordinate with authorized service vendors for repairs and preventive maintenance.
3. Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure strict compliance with Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) norms, AKTU/BTEUP guidelines, and institutional policies.
- Enforce chemical safety standards, including correct storage of hazardous substances, availability of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), and standard waste disposal practices.
- Maintain laboratory safety apparatus (eyewash stations, first-aid kits, fire extinguishers) and conduct periodic safety checks.
4. Documentation & Institutional Audit Support
- Keep lab records, attendance registers, manual files, and stock books continuously updated and audit-ready.
- Assist the department during accreditation and inspection drives (PCI, AKTU, BTEUP, NAAC, NBA).
- Prepare periodic requisitions for new chemicals, glassware, and consumables required for upcoming academic sessions.
Required Qualifications & Prerequisites
- Education: Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm) or Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) from a PCI-approved institution.
- Registration (Mandatory): Active Registration Certificate as a Registered Pharmacist under the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) / UP Pharmacy Council.
- Experience: 0 to 3 years of experience in an academic pharmacy laboratory or industrial QC/QA setting. Fresh B.Pharm graduates with strong practical expertise are also welcome to apply.
