The Purchasing Manager is responsible for buying the goods and services the organization needs to operate. Their main goal is to get the best quality items at the lowest possible price.
Main Duties
- Find Suppliers: Look for reliable vendors to provide materials, equipment, or supplies.
- Negotiate Prices: Talk with vendors to get better deals, discounts, and delivery terms.
- Place Orders: Create purchase orders and ensure items arrive on time.
- Check Quality: Make sure the items delivered meet the required standards.
- Manage Inventory: Keep track of what is in stock so the business never runs out of essentials.
- Keep Records: Maintain organized files of invoices, contracts, and costs.
Basic Requirements
- Good with Numbers: Ability to track budgets and compare prices.
- Strong Communicator: Clear spoken and written skills for dealing with vendors.
- Organized: Able to manage multiple orders and deadlines at once.
- Computer Skills: Comfortable using Excel and basic office software.
