The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining statutory compliance, and supporting the Finance Manager in budgeting, audits, and financial planning. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience in retail accounting.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily accounting transactions and maintain the general ledger.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Verify sales, purchase, and expense entries.
- Reconcile bank accounts, cash, and vendor/customer ledgers.
- Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Ensure timely GST, TDS, PF, ESI, and other statutory compliance (where applicable).
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and provisions.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Coordinate with auditors during internal and statutory audits.
- Monitor inventory valuation and stock reconciliation.
- Prepare MIS reports and management reports.
- Ensure proper documentation and record keeping.
- Supervise and guide junior accountants and accounts assistants.
- Support payroll verification and related accounting entries.
- Identify process improvements and implement financial controls.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Commerce (B.Com).
- M.Com / CA Inter / CMA Inter preferred.
- Professional accounting certification is an added advantage.
Experience
- 3–8 years of experience in Accounting and Finance.
- Experience in Retail, Footwear, Fashion, FMCG, or Trading industries preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles.
- Working knowledge of GST, TDS, Income Tax, and statutory compliance.
- Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with Tally ERP/Tally Prime or other accounting software.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under deadlines.
