Position Overview / Role Objective
The Senior Manager – Procurement will lead the end-to-end procurement function for hyperscale, AI-ready data center projects, with a focus on strategic sourcing, techno-commercial excellence, and contract governance. This is a lead role acting as Procurement Head for a 50MW data center project.
The role is responsible for ensuring timely procurement of Long Lead Equipment (LLE), civil, structural, and MEP packages, aligned with project timelines, cost targets, and technical specifications. The position acts as a commercial custodian, bridging design intent, vendor capability, and contractual performance obligations.
The objective is to establish a robust procurement framework ensuring:
- Optimal capital deployment (Capex efficiency)
- Strong vendor performance accountability through SLA/KPI-linked contracts
- Lifecycle cost optimization of critical equipment
- Risk mitigation through commercial and contractual controls
This role plays a critical part in delivering cost-effective, high-performance, and reliable infrastructure aligned with project timelines and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities1. Procurement Strategy & Execution
- Lead end-to-end procurement for all project packages including:
- Long Lead Equipment (LLE): transformers, UPS, DG sets, chillers, GIS, cooling systems
- Civil, structural, and MEP trade packages
- Develop procurement models, packaging strategies, and sourcing plans to minimize risk and optimize cost
2. RFP & Tender Management
- End-to-end RFP management including:
- Tender document preparation aligned with design and project requirements
- Pre-bid meetings, clarifications, and bidder coordination
- Technical & commercial bid evaluation using structured matrices
3. Techno-Commercial & Vendor Management
- Collaborate with design, EPC, and cost consultants (Stage 2A / 2B readiness)
- Develop vendor evaluation frameworks including benchmarking and capability assessment
- Evaluate vendor compliance, pricing trends, and performance history
- Build structured techno-commercial evaluation systems for OEMs and contractors
4. Contract Management & Governance
- Develop GCC (General Conditions of Contract) and SCC (Special Conditions of Contract)
- Define SLA/KPI-based contracting frameworks with performance-linked outcomes
- Establish penalty frameworks for non-performance and GTP deviations
- Manage contractual risk allocation, claims, and dispute resolution
5. Negotiation & Commercial Management
- Lead commercial negotiations covering:
- Price optimization
- Delivery timelines
- Payment terms
- Risk allocation
- Manage change orders, variations, and commercial closeouts
- Ensure timely vendor payments and financial closure
6. LLE & Equipment Procurement
- Lead procurement of LLE CAPEX equipment with focus on:
- GTP (Guaranteed Technical Parameters) compliance
- Design intent alignment and redundancy requirements
- Manage FAT (Factory Acceptance Tests) and site load testing
- Enforce contractual remedies for GTP non-compliance
7. Lifecycle Cost & Financial Analysis
- Conduct Lifecycle Cost Analysis (LCCA), including:
- CAPEX vs OPEX trade-offs (breakeven analysis)
- Energy efficiency and operational cost impact
- MTBF / MTTR analysis
- Support ROI and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) decision-making
8. Vendor Ecosystem Development
- Develop vendor onboarding, prequalification, and rating systems
- Maintain vendor database and performance scorecards
- Build long-term strategic relationships with OEMs and contractors
9. Procurement Governance & Risk Management
- Monitor procurement budgets and cash flow alignment
- Coordinate logistics, customs, SEZ, and site readiness
- Manage supply chain risks including:
- Long lead times
- Vendor dependency
- Price volatility
- Ensure statutory, legal, and contractual compliance

Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 15 years of experience in procurement and contract management
- Strong experience in CAPEX and trade package procurement (15+ years mandatory)
- Proven experience in:
- Hyperscale data centers / industrial / large infrastructure projects
- High-value CAPEX and LLE procurement
- End-to-end procurement ownership roles

- MBA / PGDM in Supply Chain / Finance – Preferred
