Job Description (JD) – Machine Shop Executive (Forging & VMC)
Location: Jalgaon
Department: Production – Machine Shop (Forging Division)
Reports To: Machine Shop Manager / Production Head
Position Purpose
To manage day-to-day operations of the Machine Shop including CNC, VMC, drilling, tapping, and machining processes for forged components. The role is responsible for achieving production targets, improving machine utilization, maintaining quality standards, reducing machining costs, and ensuring on-time delivery.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Planning & Execution
- Execute daily and monthly production plans as per customer requirements.
- Coordinate with Planning, Forging, Quality, Maintenance, Tool Room, and Dispatch departments.
- Ensure on-time completion of machining schedules.
2. VMC & CNC Machine Shop Management
- Manage operations of:
- VMC Machines
- CNC Turning Centers
- Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Minimize setup and changeover losses.
3. Quality Control
- Ensure production as per drawings, control plans, and specifications.
- Monitor first-piece approvals and in-process inspections.
- Control rejection, rework, and customer complaints.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure process capability and product conformity.
4. Tooling & Fixture Management
- Monitor cutting tool life and tooling consumption.
- Ensure availability of cutters, inserts, holders, gauges, fixtures, and consumables.
- Coordinate with Tool Room for fixture development and maintenance.
- Implement tooling improvements to reduce machining costs.
- Maintain tooling and fixture records.
5. Productivity & Cost Reduction
- Improve machine utilization and labor productivity.
- Implement Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, and TPM initiatives.
- Reduce cycle time and machining cost per component.
6. Maintenance Coordination
- Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance activities.
- Monitor machine downtime and ensure quick restoration.
- Support TPM implementation and autonomous maintenance activities.
- Maintain machine health records.
7. Safety, TPM & 5S
- Ensure adherence to safety procedures and PPE usage.
- Maintain workplace discipline and 5S standards.
- Participate in safety audits and improvement activities.
- Ensure compliance with ISO, customer, and company requirements.
Qualification
- Diploma / B.E. Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering.
Experience
- 10–15 years of experience in Machine Shop operations within Forging, Engineering, Automotive, or Industrial Manufacturing industries.
- Hands-on exposure to VMC and CNC machining operations is mandatory.
