Note from the Founders on the role
Hi, I'm Sarthak, Co-founder of Material Depot. As we scale, getting a heavy, often-fragile product from a supplier's dock to a customer's doorstep — on time, undamaged, and at the right cost — is one of the hardest and most important problems we have to solve. It touches every part of the business: our customers' first physical experience of us, our unit economics, and our ability to promise dates we can actually keep. I'm looking for someone who can own this entire chain end-to-end — first mile, warehousing, dropship, transporters, Porter/on-demand partners, and the delivery boys who show up at the door — and bring the same rigor to it that a fast-scaling company needs.

What you will do
- Plan and own daily last-mile deliveries — route/vehicle allocation, delivery sequencing, exceptions, failed deliveries, and OTIF performance
- Own logistics-related customer experience end-to-end — proactively communicate delays/changes and resolve delivery escalationsCoordinate dropship deliveries — supplier readiness, vehicle placement, dispatch, customer delivery, documentation, and supplier SLA adherenceAlign supplier and warehouse dispatches with last-mile requirements to reduce first-mile-to-last-mile cycle time.
- Optimize delivery zones, routes, hubs, vehicle types, consolidation, and capacity to reduce empty kilometres and repeat trips.
- Manage Porter and other on-demand partners for urgent and Just-in-Time deliveries, including booking, vehicle selection, tracking, and closure.
- Plan daily vehicle and delivery-boy deployment, and manage productivity, attendance, utilization, training, and performance.
- Onboard and manage transporters/3PL partners — SLAs, rates, performance reviews, escalations, and capacity.
- Ensure every delivery has accurate and timely Proof of Delivery, and resolve missing or incorrect PoDs with operations and financeOwn transportation cost and unit economics — cost/order, cost/delivery, cost/km, vehicle utilization, and empty kilometres.
- Forecast vehicle and delivery manpower requirements, and maintain backup capacity for peaks and disruptions.
- Use TMS, GPS/telematics, route optimization, and dashboards to identify bottlenecks and improve productivity.
- Build and enforce SOPs across first-mile, dropship, last-mile, JIT, Porter, and delivery operations.
You're a good fit for this only if…
- 3–5 years in transportation, last-mile delivery, logistics, distribution, or supply chain operations.
- Hands-on experience managing transporters, 3PLs, fleet, delivery personnel, and/or on-demand delivery partnersYou've worked in first-mile and/or last-mile operations, transportation costing, route planning, and fleet utilization.
- Dropship or supplier-to-customer delivery experience is a strong plus.
- You're comfortable owning customer escalations and coordinating delivery issues to resolution, not just flagging them.
- You're hands-on and comfortable being close to ground operations — this isn't a purely strategic desk role.
- Comfort with logistics technology — TMS, GPS/telematics, or operational dashboards — is preferred.
- Experience in e-commerce, building materials, furniture, retail, B2B distribution, or another operationally intensive business is preferred.
- You're commercially aware and capable of negotiating with logistics partners.
