Job Summary
Junior Fitter for The SPM Assembly is responsible for the mechanical assembly, fitting, alignment, testing, and commissioning of Special Purpose Machines (SPMs). The role involves interpreting engineering drawings, ensuring assembly accuracy, troubleshooting issues during build, and supporting trials and customer acceptance.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble mechanical components and sub-assemblies of SPMs as per drawings and BOM
- Interpret GA drawings, part drawings, pneumatic and hydraulic schematics
- Perform machine alignment, levelling, and precision fitting
- Coordinate with design, electrical, and controls teams during assembly
- Debug and troubleshoot mechanical issues during assembly and trials
- Support machine trials, FAT, and customer inspections
- Ensure adherence to quality standards, safety norms, and 5S practices
- Document assembly changes and provide feedback for design improvements
- Support installation and commissioning at customer sites (if required)
- Maintain assembly schedules and report progress to the project team
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of mechanical assembly and machine building
- Hands-on experience with SPMs, automation systems, jigs, and fixtures
- Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, linear guides, and servo mechanisms
- Ability to read and understand mechanical and pneumatic drawings
- Familiarity with measuring instruments (vernier, micrometer, dial gauge, etc.)
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Qualifications
- Diploma / BE / BTech in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Preferred Skills (Added Advantage)
- Experience in automotive or industrial automation projects
- Exposure to FAT/SAT processes
- Basic understanding of PLC-controlled machines
- Willingness to travel for site installation and commissioning
