AS400 - L2 - Specialist
Key Responsibilities
Incident Troubleshooting: Resolve complex program, database, and system failures escalated from L1 support. Batch & Job Management: Monitor nightly job cycles, subsystems, message queues, and job schedules. Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Investigate recurring or high-impact errors and implement permanent fixes. Security & Access Control: Manage user profiles, object authorities, and privileged access requests. System Maintenance: Support data backups, restores (using BRMS or native tools), and file transfers (FTP/SFTP/MQ).Change & Vendor Management: Implement approved change requests and coordinate with L3 teams or external vendors.
Skill Requirements
Core OS Commands: Strong command of OS/400 and navigation tools (iSeries Navigator, IFS).Programming & Scripting: Working knowledge of CL/CLLE and RPG/RPGLE, with COBOL as a plus. Database & Query: Proficiency in DB2 for i and SQL/400 for data analysis. Operations Tools: Experience with enterprise job schedulers (Control-M, Tivoli) and ticketing software (ServiceNow, Jira).
Other Requirements
Familiarity with ITIL processes for incident, change, and problem management
