Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced UG NX Software Designer with strong knowledge of High Pressure Die Casting (HPDC) components and tooling. The candidate will be responsible for 3D modeling, casting design development, tooling feasibility, manufacturing drawings, and coordination with cross-functional teams using Siemens NX (UG NX). The role requires expertise in aluminum die casting components, GD&T, DFM, and tooling concepts for automotive or industrial applications.
Key Responsibilities
Develop 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using Siemens NX (UG NX).
Design HPDC casting components, dies, sliders, cores, cooling layouts, and trimming concepts.
Perform tooling feasibility analysis and optimize part design for manufacturability.
Prepare detailed engineering drawings with GD&T standards.
Coordinate with tool room, production, quality, and machining teams.
Support mold flow analysis and implement design improvements based on simulation results.
Ensure proper draft angles, wall thickness, overflow, venting, and gating considerations in casting design.
Handle ECN/ECR changes and maintain revision control.
Prepare BOMs and technical documentation.
Participate in design reviews with customers and internal teams.
Troubleshoot tooling and casting-related issues during trial and production stages.
Ensure compliance with customer specifications and automotive quality standards.
Required Skills
Strong hands-on experience in Siemens NX (UG NX).
Good knowledge of HPDC process and die design concepts.
Experience in 3D modeling, surfacing, assembly, and drafting.
Knowledge of:
GD&T
DFM/DFA
Tooling feasibility
Core & cavity development
Slider/lifter mechanisms
Cooling and venting concepts
Understanding of aluminum die casting defects and corrective actions.
Familiarity with mold flow simulation support activities.
Knowledge of machining allowance and trimming operations.
Good understanding of automotive manufacturing standards.
Experience
6–8 years of experience in UG NX design.
Experience in HPDC tooling or casting component design preferred.
Automotive industry experience is highly preferred.
